Fourth and last call for Mistra Innovation

To date, Mistra Innovation has invested SEK 60 million in innovative ideas. It is now placing a further SEK 20m in the kitty for a final programme call. The call addresses companies wishing to improve products and services to reduce environmental problems.

Previous calls in Mistra Innovation have prompted many firms to apply. Eighteen have shared funding of SEK 60 million altogether. In mid-February a fourth programme phase is starting and, accordingly, SEK 20m more is available for successful applicants. The closing date is 8 April.

For all companies that are interested in attending, information meetings will be held in Gothenburg on 11 February and Stockholm on 18 February. The call addresses Swedish small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) wanting, jointly with universities and other higher education institutions and research institutes, to start research projects with a positive environmental impact.

Of the businesses receiving support so far, small firms have predominated. Mistra Innovation therefore now wishes to encourage somewhat larger SMEs with 20–250 employees to take part.

For a project to be considered, the proposal must have a potential to solve environmental problems and help to bring about sustainable development in society. The money awarded by Mistra Innovation is intended primarily to fund the participation of the project manager and the academic research organisation in the project. The project group itself is expected to cover the other expenses, amounting to at least half of all project costs.

When the call closes in April, all applications will be evaluated by two external committees, one with a scientific and one with an industrial focus. The next step is for the applicants with the most interesting proposals to be called to a hearing in Stockholm at the beginning of June. A few weeks later, the board of Mistra Innovation will decide which applications to support.
