Mathias Uhlén new Board member

The well-known research biotechnologist Mathias Uhlén is a new member of Mistra’s Board. He was elected after being nominated by the Swedish Research Council (VR), the Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare (Forte), the Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning (Formas) and the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation (Vinnova).

Uhlén is a professor of microbiology at KTH Royal Institute of Technology and director of the large SciLifeLab research centre. He has also headed an acclaimed Swedish project, the Human Protein Atlas, which has mapped the body tissues that contain human beings’ more than 20,000 proteins. This knowledge is valuable for understanding how the body works and the effects of various diseases. Uhlén has also started several biotechnology companies connected with his research.

Mathias Uhlén has been appointed as a board member until 30 June 2016.
