Strategic communication at Science Festival

With changes in the surrounding world and the media, research communication faces new challenges to those who want to reach out and exert influence. Strategic communication will be one theme at the ‘Research Communication Forum’, during the International Science Festival in Gothenburg on 7 May.

This year’s ‘Research Communication Forum’ (Forum för Forskningskommunikation) will cover strategic communication. The keynote speaker is Ray McHugh of the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, who had a bearing on the selection of his university as the ‘University of the Year’ in the UK in 2012 (it was also named ‘Entrepreneurial University of the Year’ in 2013). His lecture, ‘How storytelling makes your strategy come to life’, will be one of several interesting programme items on the day.

This seminar, which is free of charge for communicators and others with an interest in communicating research, will be held in Gothenburg on 7 May as part of the International Science Festival, Sweden’s largest event for popular science.

Mistra is among the arrangers of the Research Communication Forum. The others are the Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences and Spatial Planning (Formas), the Swedish Research Council for Health, Working Life and Welfare (Forte), the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet, VR), the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems (VINNOVA), the Knowledge Foundation (KK-stiftelsen), the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research (Stiftelsen för strategisk forskning) and Public and Science (Vetenskap & Allmänhet, VA).
